Right To Freedom(Liberty) Articles 19-22
Article 19 of our
constitution, as amended,guarantees six basic and valuable freedoms to the
citizens of India.
They are
Freedom of speech and expression
Freedom of assemble
peacefully and without arms
Freedom to form associations
and unions
Freedom to move freely
throughout the territory of India
Freedom to reside and settle
in any part of the territory of India
Freedom to practice any
profession or to carry on any occupation,trade or business
It may be noted
that,originally there were seven freedoms.One of the freedoms,viz ‘Freedom to
acquire,hold and dispose of property’ was omitted by the 44th
Constitution Act 1978. So today there was only six freedoms.
Besides these six freedoms,
Article 20,21 and 22 of our constitution guarantees
Protection in respect of
conviction for offences
Protection of life and
personal liberty
Protection against arrest and
detention
